What is the Queens League?
The Queens League is a friendly but competitive individual padel league run at Padel Sheds, Chester. Players compete for their own league position, with partners rotating through the duration of the league, so everyone gets the chance to play with, and against, different players. Matches are intended to be enjoyable, social and competitive in equal measure – with the emphasis on friendships rather than scores!
When does it start?
The first round will begin week beginning 04/01/2027. Fixtures for the opening weeks will be released before the league starts so everyone has time to arrange their matches.
How many people are in the league?
There will be 16 players in this initial league. This works particularly well for a 15-week programme because it allows a structured rotation of partners and opponents. If final entry numbers differ or we have a greater interest, Padel Sheds may adjust the format while keeping the same overall league principles.
How long will the league run for?
The league will run for 15 weeks, followed by the end-of-league presentation and prize giving. The last week of matches will be week beginning 12/04/2027.
How much will it cost?
£25 per player for the full 15-week league. Court hire is paid separately when each match is booked, at the applicable discounted Queens League rate.
What do I get for paying to enter?
Your entry fee covers league administration, fixtures and results management, the live league table, access to the Queens League player group, end-of-league prizes and the presentation event. Players will also receive the agreed Queens League court-booking benefit/discount. Every Padel Queen will also receive a customised Padel Sheds Queens League hooded sweatshirt.
What if I can’t play in a particular week?
Please let the other players know as early as possible. Matches may be rearranged within the agreed fixture window, subject to court and player availability.
What if I’m sick and can’t play?
There is no penalty for genuine illness provided the other players and organiser are told as soon as reasonably possible. The match should be rearranged where possible. If it cannot be replayed within the permitted window, then you will forfeit the match and your opponents will be granted a win.
What happens if someone is late or doesn’t turn up to a match?
A 15-minute grace period is allowed. If a player does NOT arrive before the end of the grace period they and their partner will forfeit the match and their opponents will be granted a win. In the event of a genuine emergency, Padel Sheds will make the final decision and inform the players accordingly.
What happens if I need to retire from the league?
Contact Padel Sheds promptly. A reserve may take over your remaining fixtures. If you retire before the end of week 5, the reserve inherits your score and continues earning points. From week 6 onwards, the reserve’s final score is disregarded when calculating final league results. If no reserve is available, Padel Sheds may ask a coach to play the remaining fixtures.
How do I book my matches and is there a discount?
Agree a time with your fixture group and book a 90-minute slot at Padel Sheds, Chester. Use the Padel Sheds app and Queens League option/code when available. League matches benefit from a reduced court rate; the exact rate, app availability and booking instructions will be confirmed before launch.
Will I play with the same partner every week?
No. The format is designed so partners rotate. Your league position belongs to you as an individual, not to a fixed pair, which keeps the competition social and gives everyone a broader mix of matches. You will be notified of all your partners (for the whole 15 week period) before the start of the league, in plenty of time for you to book your matches.
Will there be a presentation evening?
Yes. Padel Sheds intends to hold an end-of-league presentation evening on Thursday 22nd April, with prizes and recognition for the league winners and other awards.
What can I win?
Prizes will be awarded for various categories such as: Queens League Champion, Most Improved Player – along with some more lighthearted prizes, e.g. Biggest Potty Mouth, Biggest Smile, Most Fun on Court awards. Padel Sheds may also add sponsor prizes or spot prizes during the league. There will be an overall Queens League – Padel Sheds Spirit Award which will be awarded to the player who most embodies the Padel Sheds spirit (winner receives a new Padel Racquet donated by Blaze).
How will I earn points from matches?
After each match you will earn individual league points based on your partnership result: Win = 3 league points for each player of the winning pair, Draw = 1 point for each player, Loss = 0 points for the losing pair.
What happens if there is a tie at the top of the league after 15 weeks?
Best game/set difference, followed by most games/sets won. Padel Sheds will confirm whether games or sets apply and how any remaining tie will be resolved prior to season conclusion.
How long are the matches?
Matches should be played over 90 minutes.
Do we book our matches as Casual or Competitive?
Book Queens League fixtures as Casual, unless all participants agree for it to be recorded as competitive.
Will there be a dedicated app for us to use?
A free dedicated Padel Sheds app is planned for match bookings and results. Availability and booking instructions will be confirmed before the league starts.
How are matches scored?
Play the best of three sets over 90 minutes. One set all with the third set unfinished results in a draw. Use standard padel scoring with Silver Point: one advantage, deuce, then Golden Point. Agree the final score with the other players and upload it to the Padel Sheds app at the end of your match.
How are award winners chosen?
All league members vote for award winners. Padel Sheds makes the final decision in the event of a tie.
What should I bring?
Bring your racket, suitable court shoes and water. Confirm ball arrangements with your group before playing. Check your partner, fixture, court booking and start time, and arrive ready to begin promptly.
